The New York Times has published its review of the new series of Agatha Raisin, starring Ashley Jensen. The series, consisting of a two-hour pilot and eight one-hour episodes each based on one of the Agatha Raisin novels, was originally shown in the UK on Sky1 is now being shown in the US on Acorn TV.
The New York Times originally covered the initial screening in a brief review, and it now returns with an in-depth review that praises the series by saying, 'It’s all served with a light touch that recalls shows like “Columbo” and “Monk,” and although Agatha has a back story, it’s not so weighty that you feel as if you have to lug it from one episode to the next. This is an old-school series — consume as much or as little as you like. It’s a pleasant meal any way you devour it.'
